TESTIMONIALS

H.O.P.E. - Why We Do What We Do

"Aplastic anemia is a dreadful disease, but because of its rarity does not get the attention or the research support of a condition like leukemia... It is patients like Julia who make all the difference; she was an inspiration not only to me personally, but to many of the physicians, nurses and social workers at Children's whose lives she touched. The very existence of Julia's Wings Foundation is a testament to her vision, and it has already been extremely gratifying to me when I meet current patients and families who are benefitting from the generosity of the foundation."

Division of Hematology/Oncology -Boston Children's Hospital
"Thank You, for your generous support/assistance to our family during Michael's hospitalization and treatments. Michael has always been a healthy 8 year old boy, except for the cold now and then.  His illness was a complete shock to us.  Since January 4, 2016 through January 25, Michael and I have stayed in the hospital and at a Ronald McDonald House so that he can receive platelets and blood transfusions as needed. We are hopeful and continue to have faith.  We have our church community, my colleagues, our family, a wonderful care team at SCCA, and of course, Julia's Wings Foundation supporting us."

"As a clinical social worker, I have the honor of working with children and families affected by Aplastic Anemia, a rare bone marrow failure disorder.  I bear witness to  families’ initial shock upon receiving the diagnosis, the strength with which patients and their loved ones endure difficult inpatient hospitalizations, and the great resilience with which families manage strenuous and lengthy treatment courses.  Amidst the significant stress of coping with the Aplastic Anemia diagnosis, many patients’ caregivers experience the heavy financial burden that often accompanies serious illness.  Long inpatient admissions, frequent clinic appointments, and extended periods of unpaid time away from work result in parents’ feeling increasingly worried about their ability to pay next month’s rent or utility bill.  Julia’s Wings Foundation is a valuable resource to these families.  The financial assistance so compassionately provided by Julia’s Wings provides a moment of lightness during what can be a very dark time.   A huge thank you to Julia’s Wings Foundation for the support it has given to the inspirational families with which I work."

"I have not come across any other foundations that assist these families in great need. I am honored to hear about Julia’s story. I am always touched by the strength and gratitude that families endure and then assist others in need."

On behalf of my family I would like to thank you for your letter, kind words and financial support. Without this help the difficult days would have been even tougher.

"We are ever so humbled and grateful to Julia's Wings...with such great support, we can all get through anything - together."
